- Safer Water for Your Family
- Tasty Water From Every Faucet
- No Chlorine or Other By-Products
- Cheaper Than Bottled Water
A whole house water filter system improves the taste and safety of your family’s drinking water. Despite Long Island’s natural aquifers, contaminants can still get into your home’s tap water, and municipal water-treatment chemicals can leave an unpleasant taste. Have Tragar Home Services install a whole house water filter to ensure your family has safe, clean, good tasting water all the time, from every faucet.
Debunking Common Whole House Water Filter Myths
Because water purity concerns are growing, we here at Tragar hear a lot of myths and misconception. Here are the most common questions we get:
Myth #1: Whole House Water Filters Are Expensive
A whole house system is actually more cost effective than other methods, such as filtering pitchers, bottled water, or filters attached to a single faucet.
Tragar’s whole house water filtration systems cost less than $0.50 a day to operate while providing crystal clean water for your family. Compared to faucet-attached filtration options or pitcher filters, a whole house water filtration is much cheaper. When compared to commercially bottled water, the price difference is even greater and eliminates the plastic bottle waste. It’s also more convenient than carrying heavy cases of bottle water or giant water cooler jugs.
Myth #2: Long Island’s Water Is Clean Enough
Municipal water processing chemicals can give water an odd taste. Most use chlorine or chloramines (chlorine plus ammonia) to chemically treat water to kill bacteria and viruses. While effective, it adds an unpleasant taste and odor. It also tends to dry out skin and hair.
Contaminants can still be a problem in municipal water, too. In 2014 a spill in Bethpage involving a powerful solvent called Trichloroethylene (TCE) led to TCE levels as high as 4.6mg/L in the Bethpage area. The legally allowed limits of TCE are only .005mg/L. Having Tragar Home Services install a whole house water filtration system provides the extra protection and peace of mind from foreign contaminants.
Myth #3: I’ll Have to Replace the Filter Constantly
Totally untrue. Depending upon the exact model, one whole house water filter will process 600,000 to 1.5 million gallons of water before it needs to be replaced. That’s enough water for your whole household for a minimum of 6-7 years or even longer!
Benefits of a Whole House Water Filtration System
- Good tasting, filtered water from every faucet
- Removes chlorine, chloramines and other disinfectant by-products
- Less waste & environmental impact than bottled water
- Better tasting drinking water
- Lower costs than buying bottled water
