What is a Net-Zero Hero?
A Net-Zero Hero is a heating oil company like Tragar, a liquid fuel provider which provides cleaner-burning, renewable energy and high-efficiency heating equipment to its customers.
The NYSEC represents fossil fuel companies that have joined together to promote environmentally-friendly energy sources and reduce carbon emissions. The NYSEC officially launched the Net-Zero Hero movement across lower New York State to promote awareness and usage of Bioheat® fuel and related energy-efficient heating equipment, services, real estate, and policies related to renewable energy and the reduction of carbon emissions.

Other Benefits of Bioheat
Homeowner benefits for using Bioheat® fuel don’t end with its clean-burning, renewable qualities. There are several tax credits and rebates available as well. New York State has been leading the net-zero movement, and as a New York State resident, there are many ways to save money.
Use Bioheat® and Automatically Save
Did you know that an NYS tax credit is available just for using Bioheat®? For every gallon of Bioheat® renewable fuel that you buy, the Clean Heating Fuel Credit provides 1 cent for each percentage of biodiesel, from 6% to 20%. If you buy 1,000 gallons of renewable B20 Bioheat® fuel, you would qualify for a $200 tax credit (1,000 gallons x $.20 for 20% biodiesel = $200). Upgrade Your Heating Equipment and Save
The Upgrade and Save – NYC and LI Energy Efficiency and Safety Rebate program offer two rebates to homeowners when they upgrade older heating oil equipment. The first rebate is for $500, which homeowners qualify for when upgrading their old furnaces or oil boilers to newer, more energy-efficient models. There is another $300 rebate available for eligible upgrades from an underground or older above-ground oil tank. All upgrades must be processed by a company that is a registered Bioheat® dealer.
These rebates are made available by the New York State Energy Coalition (NYSEC). NYSEC, which represents NY State heating fuel companies, is the group that has been actively promoting and advocating the net-zero movement.
