What is Bioheat®?

What is BioHeatCool fall temperatures are soon arriving and winter is coming, as are regular Long Island oil deliveries. Why not make a switch from traditional oil to Bioheat®?
What is Bioheat®, you ask? It’s traditional home heating oil blended with Biodiesel, a renewable energy resource made domestically from soy, vegetable oil, recycled restaurant oil, and other natural sources.
Now, traditional oil heat is an already environmentally friendly and efficient way to heat your home and hot water – thanks to industry advances in technology in recent decades that have it falling well within the air pollution standards of the US EPA.
However, Bioheat® can help to further reduce the already near-zero emissions because it’s eco-friendly, sustainable, energy-efficient and safer for the environment. You can also get it at no additional charge from Tragar Home Services, your Long Island green energy company.

Why Is Bioheat® a Good, Green Option for Homeowners?

As a company we strive to make decisions that are as environmentally responsible as possible. However, in the end, we know it’s your home, and how it affects your heating system is the key to customer satisfaction.
So to help homeowners learn more about Bioheat®, here are answers to some basic questions they generally have:

  • What are the advantages of Bioheat®?
  • Bioheat® is safe, and it provides a cleaner, more complete and energy-efficient burn than traditional heating oil alone. As a renewable source of energy, it releases less toxic emissions, it’s biodegradable and it’s suitable for sensitive environments. It improves the air we breathe and reduces carcinogens in the air. It’s virtually sulfur-free, contains no nitrogen or offensive aromatics, and has passed the EPA’s tier 1 and 2 health effects testing with flying colors. In addition, Bioheat® may actually extend the life of your heating equipment, as well as reduce how often your heating system needs periodic maintenance, thanks to its ability to lubricate burner and furnace parts more thoroughly and efficiently.

  • What are the components of Bioheat®?
  • It’s commonly blended within a range of two percent to five percent Biodiesel. Pure Biodiesel is called B-100. B-2 is 98 percent heating oil and two percent Biodiesel. B-5 is five percent.

  • Where does Bioheat® originate?
  • Currently 47 percent of Biodiesel is most often made from soybean oil, and 14 percent is made from corn derived from high-nutrient livestock feed and as a co-product of ethanol production.

  • Where is Bioheat® made?
  • Bioheat® is made here in the Unites States, thereby further reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil and creating more jobs here at home.

  • Are there any modifications that need to be made to your home heating system?
  • There are none that need to be made. When you receive a delivery of a B-2 to a B-5 blend of Bioheat® from Tragar Home Services, the performance and properties are the same as the current fuel we deliver. The industry’s manufacturers stand by their warranties with its use.

  • How much does Bioheat® cost?
  • There is no additional cost for Bioheat®. It’s delivered at the same price as our traditional heating oil.

  • How do I get Bioheat® from Tragar?
  • You do not have to ask for it. We deliver Bioheat® automatically. Give us a call at (516) 231-2964 or fill out our contact form to schedule your delivery or set up automatic oil deliveries.
