As winter approaches, we’ll get you in shape to stay warm and make life easier for you by installing both oil boilers and natural gas boilers. Whatever time of the year, Tragar can keep you comfortable. So, here’s what you need to know at the start of winter.

Making Sure You Have the Right Boiler

The first thing you need to be certain of is having the right furnace or boiler. According to the U.S. Energy Department, furnaces heat air, which is distributed through homes viaducts, while boilers heat water which warms pipes, radiators, and radiant floor systems.
You want to make sure your furnace or boiler is efficient. Heating efficiency is measured by annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE). It is the ratio of annual heat output from the furnace or boiler compared to the total fossil fuel energy consumed by the furnace or boiler. High-efficiency heating systems run above 90 percent AFUE, while mid-efficiency boilers will be between 80 to 83 percent and old. Low-efficiency systems have an AFUE between 56 and 70 percent. Newer furnaces or boilers are required to display their AFUE. If you have concerns about your heating system’s efficiency contact Tragar.

If you haven’t done so already, you should schedule a fall checkup with Tragar. We’ll provide a variety of services for you including:
