Bioheat® Basics – What is Bioheat?
Bioheat® is traditional home heating oil blended with biodiesel. Biodiesel is a renewable energy resource made domestically from soy, vegetable oil, recycled restaurant oils, and other natural sources.
How Much Biodiesel is Blended With Heating Oil to Make BIOHEAT®?
Bioheat® is commonly blended within a range of 2% – 5% Biodiesel.
Pure Biodiesel is called B-100.
98% heating oil and 2% biodiesel is called B-2.
5% is called B-5.
Where Does BIOHEAT® Come From?
Currently, 47% of Biodiesel is most often made from soybean oil and 14% from corn-derived from high nutrient livestock feed and as a co-product of ethanol production. According to My Bioheat, Biodiesel is produced from a variety of renewable resources, such as plant oils, animal fats, recycled grease, and even algae oil, making it one of the most sustainable fuels on the planet. And with biodiesel, you don’t sacrifice food for fuel. Oils and fats for biodiesel are a minor by-product of producing high-protein feeds (soybean meal) and quality meats.
Bioheat® And Your Home
As a company, we strive to make decisions that are as environmentally responsible as possible. However, in the end, it’s your home, and how it affects your heating system is the key to customer satisfaction.
