Install a Heated Driveway
With temperatures starting to drop, it’s time to think about preparing for winter. That’s not always a pleasant thing. Winter means cold, snow, ice, shovels and the pain associated with clearing your walks, patios, and driveway. Your driveway is particularly important because you have to be able to get your vehicle out to get to work or school. You may have a job that requires you to be at work regardless of what the weather conditions are. Your driveway is often one of the most difficult shoveling jobs. Let’s face it, it takes up a lot of space. Wouldn’t it be great if the snow and ice on your driveway would simply disappear? Tragar Home Services can make that happen!

Tragar Home Services Protects You From Old Man Winter

Tragar is your headquarters for all your winter energy needs. We’ve been providing heating services to our Long Island customers for more than 60 years. At this time of year, we often help customers start up their boiler and make certain they’re in good working order. As winter progresses, we’ll make sure our oil heat customers receive their deliveries on time and if any of our customers are experiencing problems with their boilers, we’ll be there to fix it. And if you’ve had enough of digging out your driveway. Tragar can help put that shovel in storage by installing a heated driveway on your property.

How Our Hydronic Radiant Heat System Works

Heated driveways are an alternative to more traditional snow removal techniques like shoveling, snow blowing or salting your driveway. According to the Spruce, they are designed to heat the ground and prevent snow and ice accumulation even before the first snowflakes fall.
Tragar will install a hydronic radiant heat system underneath your driveway. We can also heat your front steps, walkways or other pathways and patios. The system involves installing cross-linked polyethylene, known as PEX tubing, underground. This tubing runs outside your home and then underground, where it will coil underneath your driveway and walkway. Then the tubing runs back inside your home.
The tubing is filled with water and Glycol, which is a type of antifreeze. Glycol will prevent the tubing from freezing up even if you leave home for a few days in the dead of winter. The water in the tubing will not freeze in temperatures as low as 40 degrees below zero. The water and Glycol circulate in a continuous loop into and out of your home. When the system is turned on, your home will remain heated.
Unlike electrically heated driveway systems that often involve using electrically heated mats, hydronic radiant heat covers more ground and is far less expensive.
